Systematic Read Aloud in Pre-school Classes
For several years, TWA has focused on providing books and training preschool teachers. However, we found that these efforts alone were not enough to foster a love of reading or build a strong literacy foundation to combat illiteracy in primary education.
In response, TWA developed a carefully curated reading bookset and introduced a mandatory daily read-aloud practice in classrooms. Participating teachers are required to read a minimum of 4 books daily, repeated over 3 rounds, which results in students accumulating listening exposure to 1,500 to 2,000 books by the end of the school year.
This structured approach has proven successful across all schools, with children demonstrating exceptional reading skills as they progress into primary school.
